She ran away at 14 and now runs the place women run to.
October 13, 2026

At 14, Mary Krakani ran from a bad situation with nothing but the clothes she was wearing, headed to a neighboring country to look for her mother.
Today, she and her husband Timothy are the directors of our restoration center in Kumasi, Ghana, where they developed and run our aftercare program for women and a few of their children. The women who come to them have run from the places where they were trafficked. While they arrive hopeless, they leave with dignity and skills, able to provide for themselves so they never feel they have to go abroad to work again.
Getting there takes everything the couple has built, from food and vocational training to literacy and life coaching, all under one roof.
Mary was a child bride who overcame intense obstacles to create success for herself, and she has shared her story publicly because it's part of who she is. She knows what it is to start with nothing, and she loves the women in her care as her own family, which is what makes her the perfect "mom" for this work.
Timothy has run a successful construction company for decades, mostly building homes, and he's an prolific life coach who walks the talk. A man who has spent his career building places for people to live is now helping rebuild the lives of the women who live here.
Together they bring health and healing to everyone who sets foot in the center and, as FMF originals they represent the values and integrity that Families Mentoring Families has become known for.
Follow along to meet the women and the work they're giving their lives to.
