One bead at a time, these women are building their own bank!
November 06, 2025
A single bead seems insignificant, but thread enough of them together and you get a bag, a business, and a savings group a whole community can lean on.
At the Destiny Literacy Center in Tamale, Ghana, a group of women are learning to make beaded bags and selling them locally. The money goes back into their table banking group, a savings pot the women pool together and run themselves, so that when one of them needs to borrow, the money is already there, built by their own hands.
These women are building something they own, which is different from being handed a gift, and every bead they thread adds a skill and a little more confidence that no one can take back.
At Families Mentoring Families, we believe in women learning to read, earn, and run their own financial future, one small stone at a time, and none of it happens without you.
Here's how you can carry a few stones with us:
Share this post with one person who cares about women and opportunity, because it takes ten seconds and puts these women in front of someone new.
Join our email list at familiesmentoringfamilies.org to see where your support is going, with stories like this one straight from our teams in the field.
Give at https://familiesmentoringfamilies.org/MonthlyGiving, and your gift goes toward the next class and the next woman building something of her own.
Thank you for being part of this.
